Reviews of the best in cordless headphones.
The Top Stylish Cordless Headphones
May 16th
Let’s face it, when it comes to cordless and wireless headphones manufactures tend to focus a bit too much on the technical specifications and tend to neglect the more aesthetic aspects. However, if you dig deeply enough you will find some diamonds in the rough and with this post I am practically going to do all of the digging for you. Now I’m not going to promise anything as avant garde aand trendy as the “indie headphones” that all of the hipster kids wear, but I will lead you to some nice, fashionable pairs.
Sennheiser RS120 926 MHz Wireless RF Headphones with Charging Cradle
This particular model of Sennheisers not only sounds great – the 926 MHz band of RF tends to not interfere with most modern cordless phones and such – but also comes with a very good looking charging cradle. Despite having a long last NiMH battery, they still only weigh 8.1 ounces and provide a comfortable listening experience for hours.
Sennheiser Wireless TV Headphones
These particular Sennheiser headphones are probably not for the audiophiles out there. They are essentially just wireless earbuds, which means they cannot output as much bass as larger over the ear headphones. However, they are very lightweight and serve their role as cordless TV headphones quite well, without the added bulk that most cordless headphones add.
Sony MDR-IF540RK Wireless Headphone System
Admittedly, this pair of Sony headphones does look a little intense. However, I find the overall design to look less bulky then your average set of wireless headphones, and the audio quality is really good to boot. They use an infrared transmitter (IF), which is a bit uncommon, but it does mean you won’t have to worry about radio interference and they work up to 24 feet away from the receiver. The 30 mm drivers will provide nice sound reproduction, so music lovers need not worry.
iPod Alternatives That Work With Cordless Headphones
Dec 6th
The iPod ushered in a new era of portable music listening. People packed away their Walkmans and CD players and began buying mp3 players en masse. However, iPods are no longer the only decent option available. Today’s mp3 players were designed in a market where they must compete with the Apple titan head on, so you’ll be able to find more features and storage at a lower price. Among the top 10 mp3 players you’ll find offerings from Microsoft, SanDisk, Sony, and Creative – all well known manufacturers who know what they’re doing.
Your new pair of cordless headphones will work fine with all of these, and some of them even have Bluetooth capability for functionality with Bluetooth headphones!
Best Cheap Cordless Headphones
Dec 4th
When it comes to buying a pair of wireless headphones, expect to pay extra for the lack of the cord. However, this doesn’t mean you need to break the bank just to free yourself from wire entanglement. Rather, I recommend you keep reading as I help you select the best headphones for your budget!
What To Look For:
When looking for the best deals it’s easy to get wrapped up in prices. However, you’ll also want a product that sounds decent and will last. After all, what good is saving money when you’ll have to spend more later to replace the set? So basically, when looking for cheap cordless headphones you want low price, high quality.
Some features you’ll want to check are operating range, driver size, the type of wireless headphones, and the build quality/comfortableness.
Operating range depends a lot on the type of headphones. RF models have the greatest range with increased potential interference being the trade off, whereas infrared headphones have the worst range (they require line-of-site of the transmitter), but have the lowest chance for interference.
Drivers determine the frequencies of sound your headphones will be able to produce. Generally, larger drivers are better drivers.
Check this link for more in-depth information on types of cordless headphones. For build quality and comfort it’s hard to tell without trying them on. The best thing to do is read reviews on the internet to see what other people have to say about the pair you’re interested in.
So now that you have some idea of what to look for, here are a few low-cost, yet good cordless headphones.
Sennheiser Rs110 926 Mhz Wireless Rf Headphones Review
The Sennheiser Rs110′s are probably the best pair of cord-free headphones under $40 (if ordered from Amazon) available. They use radio frequency (Rf) technology which works best up to around 50 feet, even through furniture and walls. The headphones are comfortable and built to last, and they produce excellent bass and crisp audio.
JVC HAW600RF 900 MHz Wireless Stereo Headphones Review
These JVCs cost a little bit more than the Sennheisers, but you get extended operating range
(196 feet). The sound quality isn’t quite as good, but they are rechargeable and a comfortable pair of headphones.
Sylvania SYL-WH930GB Wireless Headphones Review
At $20 on Amazon, these Sylvanias are some of the cheapest cordless headphones around. However, the sound quality and range of this pair do leave a little to be desired. They occasionally lose audio reception, and the sound is basically like listening to FM radio. However, for the price they are definitely a bargain!
